Who’s running for office in Albany County? (General Election edition)
School board races will pit incumbents against challengers. This year’s ballots also feature contests for State House and Senate, Albany County Commission, Laramie City Council and special districts.
Following Wyoming’s Primary Election last month and the close of candidate filing for General-only races last week, residents of Albany County now have a clear picture of the decisions they’ll be asked to make on Nov. 5.
Races for Albany County’s State Senate and House seats were relatively quiet this primary, with just one inter-party contest for Senate District 10 and no inter-party contests for any of the House seats. The General Election promises more competition as Republicans and Democrats vie for all five seats.
The race for an open Albany County Commission seat will determine the partisan balance of power among county leaders, while three ward races for Laramie City Council seats will determine the direction of city leadership.
Candidates for the aforementioned races were determined by the results of the Primary Election, but voters will see a wider range of contests on their general ballots.
The local electorate will also decide a minority of Albany County School Board seats, special district representation and whether to retain judges in circuit, district and state supreme courts for respective four-year, six-year and eight-year terms.
These local contests will appear alongside statewide competitions for Wyoming’s sole U.S. House of Representatives seat and one of its two U.S. Senate seats.
The Laramie Reporter will highlight individual races in the coming weeks, as candidates hit the town to knock doors and win voters — and as voters prepare to cast ballots that will decide the future of school, local, county and state leadership.

I’d like to see more in depth coverage of county supervisor candidates. Particularly as to water and land usage.
