Everything is about "optics" at UW—anything to cover up the rot that is quickly spreading throughout upper administration. There's only one reason Ed Seidel is still the President: the Board of Trustees is afraid of how things will look if they find yet another new President. Optics, optics, optics.

Yet another example of why the university needs a union for employees and facility. Things will just continue to become more corrupt unless workers band together to stop this nonsense.

Once again dictators feel free to command as oppose to gather the experience of intelligent people dedicated to their niche!

And liars lie cause they think they can and cause they can't help themselves... especially when the truth would suffice without effect.

Lying about who told a cohort about a position is ridiculous, shows a hitch in their Moral integrity.

Only lessor people like dictatorial bosses.

Thank you Jeff Victor for writing this. Transparency is needed. Transparency and trust are always linked. Clearly, trust has been lost and needs to be regained.

As a former faculty member in the College of Health Sciences for many years, the College has a bullying problem. Bullies support, mentor and hire other bullies. Bullying grows and metastizes like cancer. Some administrators engaged in and actively encouraged behaviors that in any other academic health center would lead to dismissal. Dean Warren does not act in a vacuum, it is part and parcel of the CHS.

Nepotism/cronyism is alive and well in the CHS. The pharmacy Dean's wife has an adminstrative/management role in the College of Pharmacy. The former CHS Dean's wife was an Associate Dean of education in the Fay W. Whitney School of Nurinsg. The former Dean of the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing , a member of a prominent Laramie family, was appointed interim Dean and then appointed permanent Dean wiithout the requistite search committee and faculty involvement. Dean Warren and Dr. Smalley's behavior reflect the larger CHS culture.

The tragedy here is that health care in Wyoming in all its facets is on "life support", and this current chaos does not meet the needs of Wyoming citizens.. CHS leadership must create a culture of safety where all members of this community can thrive, succeed and grow together to address multiple health care challenges in Wyoming.

Has Dr. Warren or Dr. Smalley taught an in person class at the University of Wyoming in Laramie?

Both Dean Warren and AVP Smalley were new hires under the Seidel administration. The point being that the upper UW administration does not focus on what is best for UW, but only on what might make the Seidel administration look best. Emblematic of this is the fact that now the Seidel administration wants to now change the name of the UW Science Initiative to the Science Institute, and redirect Science Initiative funds appropriated by the state from a seed grant program and PhD Fellowship program to support research centers. Totally a "bate & switch".
