The leader of the local Democratic Party says the shift to virtual allows Hageman to “control the environment even more and not answer constituents’ questions honestly.”
As I've mentioned in an earlier thread, both sides here were performative. Hageman is a captive of Trump (she rode Trump's coattails to her seat in Congress and would be removed if she disagreed on a single issue, with Elon funding her Trump-endorsed primary opponent). She was not there to listen - only to spout canned talking points. Her challengers in the crowd knew that; all they could do was call out the lies, which are the same ones they could have heard on Fox News or any of the other party propaganda outlets in the comfort of their own living rooms. And Harriet knew they knew. And so, stalemate. All this event did for those attending was provide both sides an opportunity to vent. As for claims that members of the crowd were paid or violent: just more hyperbole.
Those who wish to actually make a difference should contribute to candidates in the upcoming April Fool's Day special elections in Florida (which will set the partisan balance in Congress). Perhaps they can sue if they hold Federal jobs or get Federal grants that Elon illegally attempts to cut, or if (horribly) family members are deported without due process. That's really about it, for now.
I appreciate your straight-forward reporting here. Thank you.
She didn’t do so well in Wheatland either…booed.
