Er, Jeff: The caption under your first photo states "On the eve of Pride Month, the Downtown Laramie sign is lit with the colors of the transgender pride flag." However, the sign in the picture is lit up in red, blue, and yellow, while IIRC the "transgender" flag is pink, baby blue, and white. Admittedly, there are approximately one zillion different LBGTQIAWXYZ flags, and they're easy to confuse, but I'd expect that given your personal biases you'd get this one right....

Hi Brett,

"LGBTQIAWXYZ" is pretty dismissive, offensive and unnecessary. The photo doesn't do the actual light display justice (you can blame the photographer for that), the "red" is more pink in person, and the "white" lights are indeed a little more on the yellow end and made more so by the photography. However, the overall display is very much meant to evoke the transgender pride flag.

Not dismissive at all.... Just a wry comment (and I'm far from the first to make it) on the fact that every interest group and subgroup seems to want a letter in the acronym and a stripe or symbol on the various flags. (For example, I personally know a few who insist on adding a "P" to the acronym... but all differ on what it would stand for!) And to make things yet more messy, the groups sometimes squabble with one another. Myself, I'm perfectly fine with anyone who's a decent human being, whatever flag they fly.

Since before you were born, Jeff. And way before there were any flags.
