What in the heck does it mean that UW has to represent? We are the only university in the state and that means we have the largest daily gatherings of people from diverse communities gathering indoors, moving and regathering, and dispersing into the community. Surely we don’t have a responsibility to pretend we are not what we are. We have a responsibility to work with knowledge, evaluate evidence, and promote the safety of employees and students based on empirical evidence and public health findings. Does our Trustee not trust academic research, best practices, and public health? And if not, why participate in University governance?
