Bathroom bills. Sports bans. The outlawing of consensus medicine. The end of counselor confidentiality. From Cody to Cheyenne, trans and nonbinary residents respond to a “grim” new landscape.
Thank you for reading. I put a lot of love, care and research into this story because I thought the subject deserved it. I had been thinking about Yeats' poem as I covered the legislature this year and wanted to connect those dots here.
I also thought it was important to put readers in the shoes of a trans child growing up in this new Wyoming. The narrative account woven into this reporting was crafted with input from transgender friends of mine. They provided insight into their own childhoods that were really helpful. So much has changed in the last two years, however, that the reality for a trans child growing up now could be very, very different than it was for those who are adults today.
Tremendous piece, Jeff. Thank you.

Thank you for lovingly attending to this moment.
